Job Definition
The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for spearheading all the organization’s fundraising and constituent relation efforts and brand management for Willow Pregnancy Support. This includes organizing large-scale fundraising initiatives, working with board members, and building relationships with donors, staff, and volunteers. It is imperative the Philanthropy Director strives to advance and grow the organization forward in keeping with the mission.
Responsibilities
Development
- Develops and executes Willow’s annual fundraising activities, including but not limited to Rose Home Garden Party, Life of the Party Gala, End of Year Appeal, Online Giving
- Maintains and grows relationships with existing supporters
Responsible for donor recognition and stewardship of gifts
Oversees, develops, and tracks proposals/grants for foundations and corporations - Oversees staff responsible for Donor Snap database management and Greater Giving database management, including data entry, gift processing, reporting, and yearly tax statements to constituents
- Manages numerous program budgets and supervises Development Staff to ensure their work activities are integrated with and supportive of the total development program
- Attends all board meetings and furnishes board with progress reports
Strategic Planning & Capital Campaigns
- Works closely with leaders and other members of management to identify and prioritize long-range goals supporting the continued operation and growth of Willow Pregnancy Support
- Management of Capital Campaigns including but not limited to campaign implementation; development and management of campaign prospect lists including research and tracking; assisting in the management of campaign budget; planning and implementing cultivation and recognition events; and develop capital campaign print, web, and social media communication materials
Branding
- Ensures the integrity of Willow Pregnancy Support’s branding is maintained
- Manages development, design, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, annual reports, event invitations, social media, and gift acknowledgment
Project Management
- Works with management members in compiling a project team
- Assists with keeping projects within a realistic timeline and budget
- Helps oversee and determine changes to the project scope, project design, and project schedule
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate social services field or business management preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of five years experience in non-profit fundraising, with a proven track record for raising significant funds from private gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and in-kind donations
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate staff and volunteers
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Donor database management experience as well as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs
- Excellent writing and verbal communication with a wide diversity of audiences and stakeholders
- Detailed-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public, staff at all levels, board members, and donors in a personable and professional manner
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities and a diverse workload while achieving results
